Former Conductors

Phil Randell

Phil started playing in the Winton Salvation Army and is a former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

He went on to play Solo Horn with the Sun Life Band, Bristol and the GUS band in the midlands. He has won numerous solo prizes and is a former British Open Horn Champion.

He has been a guest player with many bands and has toured extensively with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. In 2006 he was part of the Grimethorpe band that won the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall. He also regularly performs with the Brass Band of Battle Creek in Michigan USA.

He was the Musical Director of the Poole Borough Band, a position that he held for 10 years, enjoying many successes. He has recently been appointed the Associate Conductor of the Woodfalls Band, working with Principal conductors Bob and Nick Childs.

Phil is married to Rosie, they have two children, Tom and Lydia.
