Woodfalls welcome Michael Fowles

Woodfalls are thrilled to be working with Michael Fowles as conductor ahead of our performance together at the British Open Brass Band Championship Spring Festival this coming weekend!

As well as his busy schedule as a conductor and adjudicator (he joins us after only very recently returning from the USA to lead Fountain City Brass Band to a podium finish at the North American Brass Band Association championships) Mike is part of the conducting team at the world-renowned Foden’s Band.

We have had an inspiring couple of weeks under his leadership; we have worked hard on our general band playing as well as capturing the detail and Mike’s vision on Joseph Horovitz’s wonderful “Ballet for Band”.

Chairman Paul Street commented:

“It’s fantastic that at Woodfalls we’re able attract some of the top conductors in the brass band world to come and work with us and Mike is firmly in that category! There is a fantastic atmosphere in the band room at the moment and much of that is down to the drive and passion Mike has brought with him whilst working with us. We are all very excited to have him at the helm for ‘Blackpool in Birmingham’!“

We thank Mike for his hard work, expertise and guidance (as well as all the fun and laughs we’ve shared in rehearsal!) and we look forward to showcasing our progress at the Senior Cup this weekend.
